Day Treatment Program
At The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, we are improving the quality of life of people who have survived injury and illness. It's our goal to help individuals return to their prior lifestyles and level of independence. Using state-of-the-art rehabilitative techniques, we help individuals achieve their greatest level of functioning as quickly and economically as possible.

Our Day Treatment Program is a multidisciplinary approach that provides a convenient, cost-effective solution to those in need of an intensie therapy program three to six hours per day, but do not require overnight nursing supervision. The program is offered Monday through Friday and is a cost-effective alternative to a 14-hour acute care setting. Diagnoses treated include:

The Day Treatment Program offers a full range of treatment services including:
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Recreational therapy
  • Case management
  • Aquatic therapy
  • Vocational services
  • Nutritional counseling
General Information

Referrals
Referrals should be made through the Day Treatment Program at 314.638.3817. Our staff will work with individuals, case managers, physicians or insurance carriers to set up an evaluation. The team will meet with the patient and / or family to discuss the evaluation results and decide on an appropriate treatment plan.

Medications
All patient medications are to be provided by the patient's family. Typically, patients are encouraged to manage medications independently.

Program Goals
The goal of the Day Treatment Program is to help patients master the skills necessary to increase independence in their homes, communities and work environments.

The specialists at The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis help patients overcome barriers to independence by:
  • Providing therapeutic interventions using real-world situations
  • Increasing the patient's ability to participate in various levels of productive activities
  • Providing ongoing support and education to the patient and caregivers

  • Performing vocational rehabilitation to meet the needs of patients
Programs Features
  • Occupational Performance Center (OPC) -
    Staff work with the patients in developing groups (SWAGS), which allow a client to simulate real life job activities in an atmosphere that mimics the actual work environment.

  • Visi-Pitch -
    An advanced therapy tool to help increase voice volume and production in patients affected by Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions.

  • Community Re-Integration Outings -
    Focus on skills necessary to function independently in the community.

  • Casting and Splinting Facilities -
    Therapists are specifically trained in performing serial casting for dystonia and other movement disorders.

  • Therapeutic Outdoor Obstacle Course and Accessible Garden

  • Neuropsychological Services -
    Available for cognitive evaluation and treatment.
